As the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) regular season nears its conclusion with a shoulder injury that will keep him on the disabled list (IL), 28-year-old San Diego Padres outfielder Ha-seong Kim is unsure of his postseason participation.

“Kim's shoulder condition still threatens his chances of playing in the postseason,” the San Diego Union Tribune reported on Monday (Aug. 28).

Kim, who has been rehabbing at San Diego's training facility in Peoria, Arizona, traveled to Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona, where his teammates were visiting the Arizona Diamondbacks.

San Diego manager Mike Shields said, “Ha Sung Kim was not able to take the next step. “He's been playing second base in scrimmages with the minor league team and practicing at shortstop, but his throwing is still not perfect,” said San Diego manager Mike Shields.

“He's a key player for the team,” Schilt said, 카지노사이트 adding, ”He's trying to get back on the field, but it hasn't worked yet. He needs to perfect his throw from the shortstop position before he can play.”

San Diego clinched a National League wild card spot and a spot in the postseason.

However, Kim's status for the postseason is still up in the air.

According to MLB.com, “Kim is evaluating the possibility of playing in the postseason, but it is unlikely that he will play in the wild card series.”

The San Diego Union Tribune also raised the possibility of surgery, saying, “Kim may need to undergo surgery after the season to repair articular cartilage damage.”

Kim came to the dugout complaining of shoulder pain after sliding into first base on a throw from the opposing pitcher during a game against the Colorado Rockies on March 19.

The Padres placed him on the 10-day IL two days later on Aug. 21, retroactive to the 20th.

At the time, San Diego manager Mike Shields was optimistic that Kim would be activated from the IL by Sept. 2, when the expanded roster (28-man roster) goes into effect.

However, Kim has not yet completed his rehabilitation.
